“Major successes” achieved during Surrey’s Safer Streets Summer initiative, Commissioner says |

A summer of action in 11 of Surrey’s town centres has resulted in some “major successes”, Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend said. Across the county, results include: 🛒 Shoplifters detained moments after leaving stores ❌ Drug dealers brought to justice 🚭 Operations at shops selling illegal vapes 🚲 Arrests made after e-bikes were stopped in high streets. Surrey's Safer Streets Summer has come to an end, but Surrey Police's work to tackle criminality impacting the county’s communities continues. ▶️ The Police and Crime Commissioner has hailed "major successes" during Surrey's Safer Streets Summer The Commissioner said: "Surrey’s Safer Streets Summer has resulted in a series of major successes across each of the 11 town centres. “And while summer has come to an end, our work tackling criminality that blights our communities continues, now and forever. “I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the achievements of the summer. This includes police officers and staff, councils, local Business Improvement Districts and the organisations supporting children and young people. “There’s much more to come, and I look forward to updating Surrey’s residents in the weeks ahead.”
